Teacher and Student Retention Rates

Ogden Preparatory Academy has very high teacher and student retention rates. OPA’s teacher retention rate is 83.54% compared to a statewide rate of 78%. OPA’s student retention rate is 96.59%. OPA’s student retention rate has been above 86% for the last 6 years, which is significantly higher than the State Charter School Average.

Leadership and Character Development

Ogden Preparatory Academy focuses on developing students’ leadership capacity and individual characters. Several key programs are implemented to facilitate this individual growth. These programs include: *AVID schoolwide seeks to implement school wide instructional systems to help all students by embedding a college culture throughout the school. Our goals with AVID are to: Prepare students for career and college readiness. Provide students extra support to reach their goal of getting into college. Builds self reliance, agency, and community. *Latinos In Action focuses on Leadership development and cultural exposure to Latino culture. LIA students provide reading tutoring to elementary students. A large component of LIA is community service: Translation services during Family Conferences Elementary Tutoring (Grades K-6) Recycling Cultural Events and Fundraisers *Junior High Student Council *Elementary Leadership Teams: News, Spirit, Historian, Green, Morning, and Leadership *National Junior Honor Society *Expeditionary Learning gives students experiences outside the classroom and beyond their home circles of influence. Each grade level takes field trips to explore their curriculum in unique ways. Field trips include the Natural History Museum, the Nature Center, the Planetarium, the State Capitol, and other sites along the Wasatch Front. More extensive trips include college tours, Southern Utah, West Coast, and Spain.
