SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS
Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.
STUDENT FACTORS
Changing Students Pathway to Success
High expectations and dedication helped East Ridge Elementary students achieve tremendous academic growth. East Ridge is a high-quality professional learning community dedicated to ongoing professional learning, attention to data, whole-school targeted interventions in both reading and math, and stakeholder collaboration. East Ridge Elementary ranked number 1 out of the 20 comparable schools in Utah for academic student growth with RISE scores. This was accomplished in English Language Arts and Science. East Ridge received a “B” grade from Utah State Board of Education (USBE) for our academic proficiency and growth with students in grades 3rd through 6th on the RISE test. East Ridge Dual Language Immersion students also demonstrated some great results in our Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL). For example, the number of students at or above benchmark in 4th grade increased by 37% in listening, 23% in writing, and 14% in reading. We are so proud of our students and so thankful to all who have helped them grow as scholars. Thank you families, partners, teachers, staff, and advocates. East Ridge Elementary is excited to continue the adventure that we have started.
PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
A New Adventure Begins
East Ridge Elementary opened its doors in 2021 – 2022 embarking on a new adventure of bringing three school communities together. As we came together to become one school, we focused on creating a united school and community culture. At the beginning of the year, each grade chose or “adopted” a country that they researched and learned more about in depth, sharing more information with the school. Students were given a passport on Back to School Night and were given a stamp for each country presented. The countries that were studied were Canada, Japan, Brazil, Spain, South Africa, France, and Australia. Throughout the year, East Ridge hosted cultural events such as Folk Dancers from BYU, an altar for Dia De Los Muertos, Dual Language Immersion Night, Family Literacy Night, and other fun activities. The year ended with a culminating activity where students presented their final research project to parents and community members. The night was a culmination of a year’s worth of learning and getting to know one another. We were able to share our new knowledge, food, music, movement and celebrate being together as one school, one community.
