Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT Community Involvement through Discovery Program Discovery is a program unique to Entheos Academy. It is designed to give students opportunities to discover new talents and interests. Our program brings in local experts from our communities to share their passion and teach new skills so that students can explore new things through guided instruction. Discovery also takes students into the community to participate in local service opportunities. This program strives to foster a culture where students enjoy learning new things. We offer multiple Discovery sessions throughout the year that include a series of unique sports, arts, and civic classes during the school day. Some classes include, Computer programming, Archery, Samba Fogo (Afro-Brazilian dance), Sewing, Creating a Silent Film, Ukulele, and so many more. Through these classes, students develop new interests, cultivate the habit of perseverance, and gain confidence that will help them throughout their lives. For our 2017-2018 school year, it had been estimated that between both campuses, there have been 28,800 hours of student involvement in the Discovery Program Our goal is to help students discover that they can do more than they thought possible and have a better understanding of the meaning of perseverance. Every session is based on our Expeditionary Learning Design Principles that reflect our educational values - Excellence, Service, Leadership, Enthusiasm, Respect, Individuality, Integrity, Patriotism, Family, and

SCHOOL-LEVEL FACTORS Entheos Academy is a Service Learning School Service Learning integrates service with curriculum to reinforce learning standards while students learn to serve and develop leadership skills. At Entheos, every grade participates in Service Learning aligned with academic curricula. For example, the third grade learns about the environment and mining history of Alta, Utah. They participate in field work planting native species of plants with the U.S. Forest Service to help stop erosion. The sixth grade works with archaeologists from the Bureau of Land Management to find and record Native American artifacts outside of Cedar City for their Story of Ancient Civilization expedition. After in-class background study, the students identify artifacts and gather data through photos, drawings, measurement, and GPS marking. Their work is uploaded to the BLM records to detail changes in the site. Other examples of Service at Entheos: second graders creating craft kits for Primary Children's Hospital while learning about community, eighth graders designing logos and writing business letters to raise donations for Cancer Research (Pedals for Hope expedition). Each sixth grade student also designs and implements a personal Year of Service, in which they master grade-level standards research, writing, identifying social issues, creating presentations, logos to prepare and implement a personal thirty hour service project. To date students have completed over 30,000 hours of service aligned with grade level standards.
