SELF-REPORTED INDICATORS

Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

STUDENT FACTORS School Climate At Thomas Edison Charter School (South), we survey our students annually about their opinions and thoughts regarding the school. These are the percentages of our students who reported that they strongly agreed or agreed with the following statements. Sixth through Eighth Grade: 92% “My School environment motivates me to be successful.” 89% “My school environment motivates me to do my best.” 81% “My school is a happy place.” 83% “I feel safe at school. If I have a problem, I feel I have an adult I can talk to who will listen and help.”86% “I like my school” Fourth and Fifth Grade: 99% “I learn a lot at school.” 93% “My school makes me want to do my best.” 90% “My school is a happy place.” 87% “I feel safe at school. PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT Parent Survey At Thomas Edison Charter School (South), we care about the ideas and feedback that our parents can offer to us. For this reason, we annually survey our parents regarding their thoughts about the school. As part of this survey, we ask the parents to rank our school on a scale of 1 – 10. 94 percent of our parents gave our school a score of 8, 9 or 10. Parents are a critical part of our school and we realize the essential role that parents play in their child’s education.
