SCHOOL-LEVEL FACTORS

Platinum Level Utah STEM School Designation

In the 2021-2022 school year, the faculty of Neil Armstrong Academy dedicated significant time and resources to updating our STEM designation with the Utah STEM Action Center. It is a rigorous process that requires reflections, essays, and artifacts to demonstrate the school's alignment with the ten domains of high-quality STEM implementation as outlined by the USAC. Points are awarded by a review committee based on thirty-seven different sub-categories. There are a total of 111 points available on the rubric. Neil Armstrong Academy was awarded 105 points, thus earning a platinum designation, the highest possible level. Such a designation is very rare for a public school, and we are very proud to be the first school in the Granite School District, as well as the first school in West Valley City to receive such recognition. As part of the process, we have updated our school-wide vision of STEM education. We have attached it to this report in the hopes of helping others understand the passion we share for high-quality STEM educational programming for all students.
