INSTRUCTIONAL FACTORS

Literacy Leads the Way to Success

New Bridge has maintained a strong emphasis on nurturing early foundational literacy skills, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges of problem-based learning. We extend and enhance these reading skills as students progress through the upper grades. Our dedicated teachers actively engage in ongoing professional development to continually improve their reading instruction methods and enhance student outcomes. Some of our current literacy practices include: 1- Customized student goal setting using the Acadience framework. 2- Daily implementation of research-based phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency routines in grades K-2, including programs like Heggerty, ECRI, and Wonders phonics. 3- Skills-based small literacy groups for all students in grades K-3, featuring programs such as ERI and 95% Phonics Groups. 3- Fostering a love for literacy in all students through initiatives like One School, One Book, Literacy Nights, and author and illustrator visits. 4- Ongoing professional development for K-2 teachers, equipping them with effective reading instruction techniques through LETRS training. New Bridge remains unwavering in its commitment in providing top-tier literacy instruction to empower every student to take charge of their own learning journey, achieve progress, and ultimately succeed in their endeavors.
