Schools may choose to describe up to two additional pieces of information about how their school is supporting students. These self-reported indicators are not factored into school accountability calculations but provide the opportunity for schools to highlight successful programs or practices in addition to the indicators included in school accountability.

Longhorn Advocates
Altamont High has implemented a new advocacy hour once a week. The class period is called Longhorn Advocates. This class period provides the faculty time to mentor our students about career and college choices.Our faculty provides time for students to research what they would like to do after they graduate. This class period is a great opportunity for our faculty and students to build positive relations as well.
SCHOOL-LEVEL FACTORS
Instructional Improvements
Using the land trust budget AHS has purchased new supplies for the math, science, and english departments. AHS purchased new lab supplies specifically for the science department to increase critical thinking activities within science lessons. New calculators and textbooks were purchased for the math department. Our english department transitioned to Accelerated Reader (AR), this is a wonderful software program that uses real books and helps increase reading comprehension across the board. We thought it best to improve these three departments because they effect the school grade through state testing requirements.
