SCHOOL-LEVEL FACTORS

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports

McPolin Elementary has a robust PBIS school wide plan. Once a month we have a school wide assembly where student who follow our 4 school wide rules of Respect, Organization, Cooperation, Kindness- ROCK- are recognized and celebrated. They receive a certificate and have their pictures taken. Family members are notified and are welcome and encouraged to attend. In addition to having school wide expectations ( ROCK Rules) and school wide monthly assembly, our school also participates in school wide DOJO. Teachers reward students individually for following ROCK rules and can earn prizes for their points. Parents are kept up to date on their child's points through an app on their phone. They can also receive messages and academic updates. During the day students can get DOJO tickets from teachers at recess and lunch as well as during special classes such as: PE, Art, Coding, Library, Music. These tickets are placed in a class jar and once a week, we draw one student's name from each class and they get a prize and their picture taken with the principal. We also recognize our 5th grade leaders. Every month 5 fifth grade students are chosen, who have been leaders of the school in areas such as the cafeteria, playground, and classes such as Special Educations, Intervention and PACE, to have a special lunch with the principal. We call this our "5th grade leader lunch". This gives our leaders of the school different places to shine, besides academics.
